If you finished SGW3 and wanted more time with Robert North's story, The Sabotage delivers a harder, darker side-chapter - but every rough edge from the base game came along for the ride.

I went into The Sabotage already knowing the base game's flaws, and that context matters a lot here. This is a single-player expansion for Sniper Ghost Warrior 3, not a standalone product, and it leans into that relationship hard. You step out of protagonist Jon North's boots and into those of his brother Robert, who was kidnapped at the end of the main game's prologue and subjected to brainwashing by antagonist Sergei Flostov. The setup is genuinely more interesting than the base game's story framing, and the shift in perspective - playing the separatist side rather than the American operative - gives the Georgian conflict a bit more texture than the original campaign managed. Gameplay is the familiar open-world tactical FPS mix: scout with your drone, mark targets, choose between a direct assault, a flanking stealth approach, or a long-range elimination from a ridgeline. The three-path mission design that the base game introduced is still here, and it still works well enough when the level geometry cooperates. New locations include ancient monasteries, prison camps, and desolate cemeteries, which do give the expansion a grimmer visual identity than the sunlit Georgian countryside of the main game. A new unlockable 23 Society suit and a semi-automatic.50 caliber sniper rifle are the headline gear additions, and the rifle at least feels like a meaningful reward worth chasing. The difficulty has been cranked up noticeably compared to the base game. Enemy snipers are more aggressive and the drone gets spotted faster, which forces you to be more deliberate about recon before committing to a position. For players who found the original too forgiving, that is a legitimate improvement. For everyone else, it means more checkpoint restarts - and those restarts are still brutally slow. Loading times were a documented problem at launch and The Sabotage does nothing to fix them. There are also mission objective bugs that the community flagged early, where markers simply fail to appear, leaving you to either restart or dig through forums for the answer. That kind of friction in a game asking you to restart frequently is a real patience tax. The honest summary: if the base game's 67 percent Steam rating sits comfortably enough for you, The Sabotage offers a focused story beat, a tougher enemy configuration, and a handful of new environments that justify the extra time in Georgia. If you bounced off SGW3 because of performance issues or repetitive structure, nothing here repairs those foundations. It is a content expansion in the truest sense - more of the same, delivered with slightly more narrative purpose than a standard mission pack. Alex, Scout Team

GamerScout Verdict

Worth it only if SGW3's base game clicked with you - the story adds up, but the old technical baggage never left.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.

Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.
