Saints Row 2
A 2009 open-world shooter that knows exactly what it is: chaotic, silly, and unapologetically crude. If you've outgrown the Saints Row franchise or never caught the series at its peak, this GOG version lets you see where the mayhem started.
GamerScout Verdict
Chaotic open-world crime romp best for players who want co-op mayhem without GTA's self-seriousness.

About Saints Row 2
I've spent enough time with Saints Row 2 to know it's riding a specific tone: anarchic criminal sandbox with a sense of humor about itself. You're rebuilding a gang from scratch in Stilwater, which gives the early missions purpose without pretending to be Grand Theft Auto. The mission variety actually holds up - insurance fraud, gang-banging mechanics, character customization that goes absurdly deep. What works: the co-op campaign, the absurdity, the mission design. What doesn't: 2009 graphics and physics feel dated, and the game's crude humor lands unevenly depending on your patience for that era of comedy. It's a functional, entertaining open-world romp if you accept what year it's from and what Volition was trying to do. Not a hidden gem, but a solid time-waster for people who like their crime games less serious.
