GamerScout Verdict
A builder's train sim, not a pilot's. Great for network designers, niche for everyone else.

About Trainz: A New Era
Trainz: A New Era is a bird's-eye train sandbox where you're building and operating rail networks rather than just driving a single locomotive. You get route creation tools, a library of locomotives and cars to customize, and enough granular control over signaling and scheduling to scratch the transport-tycoon itch. The community-driven content pipeline means you're not stuck with base assets. It's niche by design. If you want hyper-realistic cab controls and 1:1 route accuracy, full-fat simulators like Train Simulator 2024 do that better. But if you like the Tycoon / Sandbox angle and don't mind operating from above, this delivers the loop of building, tweaking, and watching your system run. Low barrier to entry, high ceiling for tinkerers.
