GamerScout Verdict
Faithful but lifeless board game conversion; grab the physical edition or try a richer digital strategy game instead.

About Risk (Xbox One)
I went in expecting Risk to capture the tension of the board game's territorial conquest mechanics, but this digital version feels like playing through a spreadsheet. You pick a faction, claim continents, and resolve combat via dice rolls and troop deployment. Solo play against AI works, and there's local multiplayer, but the presentation is utilitarian at best. The turn-based pacing drags without the table talk and negotiation that makes Risk memorable in person. If you want digital Risk, this delivers the rules accurately. If you want strategy with depth or presentation that justifies skipping the physical game, you'll want to look elsewhere. The concept works on console, but the execution doesn't justify the package.
