About Oddworld: Soulstorm Enhanced Edition
I've spent enough time with Oddworld to know that Soulstorm wants you to *think* like Abe, not blast through levels. You're guiding a displaced Mudokon through grotesque meat-processing plants and corporate hellscapes, possessing enemies, finding hidden passages, collecting your kin. The pixel art is stunning - every frame looks painted, every enemy animation carries weight and intention. The problem is pacing. Early chapters drag with backtracking and obtuse puzzle solutions that feel more frustrating than clever. Once it clicks, though, there's real satisfaction in orchestrating a perfect possession chain or discovering a secret exit that shortcuts half a level. The Enhanced Edition smooths some rough edges from the original 2021 release, but it's still a game that demands patience. If you loved the methodical creep of the first Oddworld remake or find joy in pixel-perfect timing and environmental storytelling, this is absolutely worth your time. Just know you're signing up for contemplative stealth, not action spectacle. The soundtrack haunts. The world-building is genuinely unsettling. That alone makes it special.
