A dysutopian island where sex is literally the law, and you play the guy trying to resist it, absurd premise, surprisingly sharp writing, and a community that rates it overwhelmingly positive for good reason.

My first reaction when I read the setup for Nukitashi was a raised eyebrow. An island governed by a mandatory sex ordinance, a protagonist named Junnosuke who leads an abstinence resistance cell called NLNS, and weapons fashioned out of adult toys. That sounds like a throwaway joke game. It is emphatically not. What Qruppo built here is a comedy-drama visual novel that uses an absurd premise as cover for a story with real tension, espionage-flavored action sequences, and characters who earn their screen time. The structure is standard Japanese VN: a shared common route that opens the world and the NLNS crew, then four character-specific routes, Nanase, Hinami, Misaki, and the locked final route that requires you to complete the others first. Each route runs several hours, and a full playthrough clears well past thirty hours of content. The pacing holds up better than most long-form VNs in this lane. The humor never fully steps aside for the dramatic beats, which works in the game's favor: the comedy keeps the darker material from getting oppressively heavy, and the darker material gives the comedy actual stakes. Action scenes, including some genuinely exciting moments built around spy-thriller logic and physics that only work on Seiran Island, punctuate route endings in ways that land harder than you expect from a title with this title. There are real caveats to front. The biggest and most practical one: the Steam version without the adult patch is, for all meaningful purposes, not the game. Without it you get a couple of hours of setup with no routes, no ending, and an almost empty title screen. The free patch is widely available and easy to install, but you need to know going in that applying it is not optional, it is mandatory. A community-made translation improvement patch is also recommended by a large portion of the playerbase, as opinions on the quality of the official English localization are mixed. Beyond that, the protagonist Junnosuke can wear thin in specific route pairings where his shtick grates rather than charms, some background art repeats more than it should, and the route quality is uneven, the Nanase route in particular is considered weaker than what follows. The meta-humor relies heavily on eroge tropes and Japanese subculture references that will land harder for readers already familiar with the genre. What works, and works well, is the voice cast. Full Japanese voice acting across the cast lands exactly where it needs to, shifting from purposely unhinged comedy delivery to genuine emotional weight scene to scene. The art holds up well enough, sprite animation in conversations is livelier than the genre average, and the action CG sequences do real work at key moments. For readers who write off adult VNs as low-effort fan service delivery systems, Nukitashi is the counterargument Qruppo spent years building. The overwhelmingly positive Steam rating across thousands of reviews is not a quirk of a small audience, the game genuinely earns it for anyone willing to meet its particular energy. GamerScout Verdict

Worth it for VN readers who can stomach crude humor, the writing punches well above what the premise implies, but patch first, always.
