Compare Need for Speed Payback - Deluxe Edition Content (DLC) prices across trusted key stores and find the best deal. Developed by Electronic Arts Inc.. Available on Xbox. Metacritic score: 62/100.

If you already own NFS Payback and skipped the Deluxe tier, this content add-on is the practical catch-up kit: a story expansion, five starter cars, and a handful of cosmetic perks that smooth early progression.

I want to be straight with you before you click anything: what you are looking at here is not a game. It is a DLC content pack for Need for Speed Payback, sold separately for players who own the standard edition and want to upgrade. If you do not already own the base game, stop here and buy that first. So what does the base game actually feel like? Payback is an open-world arcade racer set in Fortune Valley, a sun-bleached sandbox that blends desert highways, mountain switchbacks, and urban sprawl into one connected map. You control three different protagonists across a heist-flavored campaign where the crew is trying to take down a criminal organization called The House. Each character specializes in a different driving style, so you will be switching between street racing, off-road runs, drag strips, and drift events depending on whose mission you are on. The driving itself is the high point: nitrous-heavy, drift-friendly, and forgiving enough that most crashes just slow you down rather than reset your run entirely. It is unashamedly an arcade game, closer in spirit to the Underground era than anything simulation-adjacent. The criticism that has followed Payback since launch is real and worth knowing. A lot of the cinematic action sequences the trailers sold hard end up playing out as cutscenes you watch rather than moments you drive through. The Speed Card upgrade system, which gates progression behind randomized performance parts, annoyed a lot of players at launch and was only partially improved post-release. The story is campy in a Fast and Furious way, which is either fine or insufferable depending on your tolerance for that register. Critics landed around 62 on Metacritic; the player base on Steam has been considerably kinder at around 85 percent positive across a large sample, which suggests the game lands better with people who came in wanting a fun arcade romp than with reviewers expecting depth. Now, the Deluxe Edition Content specifically. This pack adds the Speedcross Story Mission Pack (a standalone racing-focused narrative chapter), five cars from the Platinum Car Pack including a 1967 Chevrolet Camaro SS, a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T, a 2008 Nissan 350Z, a 2016 Ford F-150 Raptor, and a 2016 Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport, plus the exclusive Platinum Blue underglow and tire smoke vanity items. On the utility side, you get five Shipments (loot drops that help you get rolling faster), a five percent Rep bonus, and a ten percent discount on in-game purchases made with earned currency. There is also a cosmetic NOS color, a license plate skin, and a leaderboard icon. None of this changes the game fundamentally; it frontloads some progression and gives you a set of starter cars that are already tuned well enough to be competitive early on. Who is this for? Specifically: Payback owners who want the Speedcross story content and do not mind paying for a roster of classic cars to start with. The cosmetic perks are thin but the Speedcross chapter adds a couple of hours of actual content. If you are buying the base game fresh, check whether a bundle that includes this content is cheaper than buying both separately before committing to this pack on its own. Alex, Scout Team

Worth grabbing if you own the base game and want the Speedcross story chapter; skip if you are only in it for the cosmetics.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.

Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.
