Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection
Three arcade fighting games from the early 90s in one package, but don't expect the arcade experience to translate smoothly to modern PCs.
GamerScout Verdict
A functional time capsule for MK purists, but the PC port undermines what made these arcade cabinets special.

About Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection
I booted up Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection expecting a straightforward emulation of the original trilogy - MK1, MK2, and Ultimate MK3. What you get is playable, but the PC port feels dated even by 2012 standards. The three games are fun if you remember them fondly, with chunky sprite work and that signature arcade brutality intact. The fatalities are still there, the basic roster is there, and the core fighting works. The problem: this collection doesn't adapt well to keyboard or modern controllers. The arcade cabinet feel gets lost in translation, and there's minimal modern conveniences like online play or robust local versus options. If you're after a pure nostalgia hit and don't mind clunky controls, you'll get a few hours out of it. But this is a relic that hasn't aged gracefully on PC.
