MechWarrior 5: Clans
A mech sim that trades campaign storytelling for pure piloting challenge and clan warfare, landing somewhere between HOTAS-friendly and arcade-y depending on difficulty.
GamerScout Verdict
Solid for mech pilots hunting multiplayer combat, but lacks the narrative glue that makes MW5 memorable as a solo campaign.

About MechWarrior 5: Clans
MechWarrior 5: Clans strips away the single-player narrative structure of its predecessor and pivots toward multiplayer-focused mech customization and combat. You're flying giant robots across procedurally-varied maps, managing heat, weapon loadouts, and armor placement while your lance tackles contract objectives. If you've sunk time into the first MW5, you'll recognize the core loop: tweak your mech, run missions, earn credits, repeat. The formula works well enough for fans who just want to pilot and fight. What holds it back is the same problem that plagued MW5 originally: mission variety feels thin, and the campaign lacks the narrative hooks that keep you invested between sorties. The multiplayer angle is there if your crew's willing to squad up, which helps. Clans is best for players who see MechWarrior as a vehicle-sim-meets-tactics game, not a story-driven campaign. It's competent and scratches the itch, but doesn't reinvent what we already knew.
