The problem is execution. UI improvements help, but the AI is sluggish, and some balance tweaks feel arbitrary rather than clarifying. It's not a broken game, just an uneven modernization. If you bounced off the 1994 original due to interface pain, this fixes that. If you've never played the series, Dominions or Endless Legend might scratch the same itch with tighter design.
