Major Stryker

Major Stryker is pure arcade action: you're a soldier fighting off Kreton invaders across a series of levels that don't waste your time with story beats or cutscenes. The gunplay is the whole point. Weapons feel meaty, enemy patterns are readable, and there's a real flow to survival when you're juggling ammo conservation and positioning. It's short, which is honest rather than a flaw for what it is. The pixel art is clean, the difficulty ramps naturally, and there's no bloat. If you want a shooter that respects your time and delivers pure mechanical feedback, this scratches that itch. If you're after narrative depth or modern production values, look elsewhere. Apogee nailed the core loop here, and that's enough.
