Kuroinu Redux

Kuroinu Redux is a visual novel built on betrayal and moral compromise. You control Vult, leader of the Black Dog Mercenaries, who watches the Seven Shields Alliance beg for his help ending a brutal conflict, then flips the script entirely. Instead of serving their goddess-led cause, he consolidates power for himself. It's a story-driven experience with no combat or puzzle-solving, you're here for the narrative branches, character interactions, and the slow reveal of how far Vult will go. The game carries mature themes and sexual content, so this is explicitly not for everyone. What it does offer is an uncommon protagonist angle: rarely do visual novels let you play as the unapologetic schemer who wins through manipulation rather than heroics. If you're after branching dialogue choices and a darker take on fantasy war narratives, it's worth a look. Otherwise, pass.
