It Takes Two - Digital Version Xbox Live key
If you have one friend and a free evening, this is the co-op game that makes every other co-op game feel lazy by comparison. Roughly 15 hours of relentless mechanical invention, zero filler.
GamerScout Verdict
The benchmark for mandatory co-op design, essential if you have a partner, completely skippable if you don't.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

About It Takes Two - Digital Version Xbox Live key
I have tried a lot of co-op games where the two-player angle is basically an afterthought bolted onto a solo experience. It Takes Two is the opposite problem: you literally cannot play it alone, and Hazelight Studios built every single system around that constraint. The result is something that keeps wrong-footing you in the best possible way. The structure is simple on paper. You play as Cody or May, a married couple on the verge of divorce who get magically shrunk into handmade dolls by their daughter. Getting back to human form means working through a series of fantastical environments, each one introducing a completely different mechanical toolkit. One chapter gives Cody a throwable nail that snaps back like a boomerang while May swings on a hammer. Another hands May a cloning ability while Cody manipulates time. The trick is that these tools almost never carry over. Each chapter throws out the old rulebook and hands you a new one, which sounds exhausting but in practice just keeps things feeling fresh for the full runtime. The pacing is sharp enough that by the time a mechanic starts to feel familiar, the game has already moved on. Co-op puzzles here are not about taking turns or covering each other in a firefight. They require genuinely synchronized thinking, triggering chain reactions simultaneously, or exploiting the asymmetry between what each player can do. Optional competitive minigames tucked into the levels add a welcome pressure-valve moment when the cooperation gets intense. Boss fights are the highlight of each chapter, visually inventive and mechanically demanding enough that clearing them actually feels earned. The difficulty curve has a few rough patches early on, and there is no adjustable difficulty setting, which can cause friction if one player is less experienced. The story, too, has critics: some find the relationship arc between Cody and May a little uneven, with the emotional beats landing inconsistently across the later chapters. Those are real caveats, not dealbreakers. What Hazelight got completely right is the sense of shared ownership over every moment. Whether you are grinding rails, chasing through a burning treehouse, or solving an environmental puzzle that requires both players to think at the same time, the game never lets either person coast. It is the rare title that works just as well on a couch in split-screen as it does online. The Friend Pass means only one person needs to own a copy to play together, which removes the biggest barrier to getting someone new on board. If your usual gaming partner is not a hardcore player, the approachable controls make this a genuine option, not a compromise. This is the gold standard for co-op design right now. It won Game of the Year at The Game Awards 2021, and while that kind of accolade sometimes ages poorly, It Takes Two holds up. Solo players need not apply, but if you have got a willing partner, you will be hard-pressed to find a better use of a shared gaming session.
