Highwater

I spent a few hours with Highwater expecting another indie walking simulator, but it's got actual systems under the hood. You're steering Nikos and crew through a drowned Earth, managing supplies, picking fights with scavengers, and making choices that ripple through the narrative. The combat is turn-based and forgiving, not the draw here, but the world-building is. Every flooded city, every scrap settlement, every character moment feels like it's pushing toward a reason why escape matters. It's short and doesn't overstay its welcome. If you're after a story-first adventure that respects your time and doesn't demand twitch reflexes or 40-hour commitment, this lands. The art carries most of the weight; the writing does the rest. It won't reshape how you think about games, but it's a solid weekend companion if apocalyptic narrative and lush environments appeal to you.
