Gingerbread Story

I spent a few hours with Gingerbread Story expecting standard match-3 busywork, but the game leans harder into narrative and combat than the genre typically does. You're matching candies, cookies, and jellies across levels while following Lisa, Tommy, and Gingy through a quest that actually has dialogue and plot beats. Boss encounters add a real stakes layer to what could've been a mindless progression treadmill. The puzzle design itself is competent if unremarkable, standard cascades and special piece combos, but the variety in modes and the steady drip of narrative keeps it from feeling stale across a campaign. If you want match-3 with something resembling a reason to care beyond just numbers going up, this delivers. It's not reinventing the wheel, but it's a solid, low-pressure option for a relaxing evening.
