If you've played any FM title since, you know the loop: scout players, negotiate contracts, tweak formations, watch matches play out in that iconic 2D overhead view. The 2012 edition sits in the sweet spot before the series got too feature-bloated, so menus are navigable and the core mechanics still sing. Metacritic pegged it at 84/100 when it landed, and it holds up as a thinking person's sports game. The catch: it's old, and you're looking at a game that assumes you own it legitimately through legacy channels (hence the Kinguin listing). The database won't reflect modern player rosters or transfers, so expect fantasy scenarios. If you can tolerate playing with outdated squads and don't need 4K stadium graphics, FM 2012 remains a sandbox for the control-freak manager in you. Just know you're buying history, not the cutting edge.
