Empire: Total War and Medieval II: Total War are the backbone of the Total War series. Empire sprawls across the 18th century with gunpowder-focused warfare, naval combat, and a globe-spanning campaign map. Medieval II locks you into the medieval period with knights, castles, and religious factions. Both demand patience - these are deep turn-based strategy games where you manage armies, economies, and diplomacy before zooming in for tactical real-time battles. The UI feels dated by modern standards, and neither game coddles you with tutorials. If you thrive on complexity and long campaign nights, though, they're gold. The bundle makes sense only if you want both games; buying separately is usually cheaper. These aren't broken, but they're not beginner-friendly either.
