GamerScout Verdict
A motion-control curiosity that's more fun to laugh about than actually play, skip unless you collect Kinect oddities.

About Fighter Within (Xbox One)
Fighter Within is Ubisoft's motion-controlled take on the fighting genre, built around Xbox One's Kinect sensor. Instead of a controller, you throw actual punches, kicks, and dodges to control your fighter. The concept has obvious appeal if you want physicality in combat, but the execution struggles with input lag and inconsistent motion detection. Real-time fighting demands precision, and tracking your limbs in 3D space introduces enough latency that competitive timing falls apart. If you're looking for a novelty party experience with friends who find traditional fighters intimidating, the motion controls lower that barrier. Solo play against the AI is a slog. The roster is thin, the campaign is forgettable, and you'll quickly discover that some moves register more reliably than others depending on your room setup and lighting. It's the kind of experiment that made sense in 2013 when Kinect hype was still alive, but hasn't aged into something worth hunting down unless you're specifically after a motion-control oddity. Better fighting games exist on every platform.
