Fieldrunners
A competent 2012 tower defense port that maze-builders will finish in a weekend, but anyone expecting depth beyond optimal path-blocking should skip it.
GamerScout Verdict
Worth it for maze-building tower defense fans wanting a weekend puzzle, not for anyone chasing strategic depth.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Fieldrunners
This one is for players who want a clean maze-building puzzle and nothing more, and it is a hard pass for anyone who wants meaningful late-game systems. Fieldrunners is the open-field variant of tower defense, meaning you draw the path yourself with tower placement rather than decorating a fixed lane. That is genuinely the whole game, and when it works it works well: you are running a mental cost curve on Gatling versus Goo versus Missile towers, deciding when to upgrade in place instead of adding a body, and watching your carefully looped switchbacks fall apart the moment flying units ignore them entirely. The problem is that a maze solved is a maze solved. Once you settle on a layout that survives the wave table, replaying a map becomes execution rather than decision-making, and the single-player-only structure gives you nothing to chew on afterwards. It also carries its mobile origins visibly, and the Mixed Steam reception (roughly two thirds positive) reflects players who found the PC release thin and fiddly rather than broken. Come for a few sharp evenings of pathing optimization. Do not come for a strategy game you will still be thinking about next month.
