Fallout 2
A 1998 isometric RPG that still holds up if you're patient with turn-based combat and 90s UI, deep character building and a world that reacts to your choices make it worth the archival dig.
GamerScout Verdict
Best for CRPG veterans who value faction reactivity and roleplay depth over modern conveniences.

About Fallout 2
I've spent enough time with Fallout 2 to know it's a very different beast from the modern entries. This is a top-down, turn-based tactical RPG where your build decisions matter immediately and the world treats you as a single person trying to survive, not a chosen one. You roll a character, spec into skills and perks, and then navigate a post-apocalyptic wasteland full of factions that actually remember what you did in town A when you show up in town B. The writing is sharp and often darkly funny, with environmental storytelling that doesn't hold your hand. Combat is methodical and can punish poor planning. The interface is dense and requires reading tooltips. This isn't a casual afternoon game. But if you like old CRPGs where roleplay means something, where you can fail quests, and where a low Charisma character might talk differently than a high one, you'll find a lot to dig into here.
