Dead Space Orgin
Trapped on the USG Ishimura with only a plasma cutter and a kinesis module between you and a ship full of necromorphs, this remake of the 2008 classic earns its very positive reception by doing almost everything better than the original.
GamerScout Verdict
The definitive way to play Dead Space, and a strong survival horror recommendation for newcomers and returning fans alike.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

About Dead Space Orgin
I went in expecting a polished coat of paint slapped over an old game, and what EA Motive delivered instead was a full ground-up rebuild that actually bothered to fix the things that aged poorly. The original Dead Space was a landmark, but fifteen years later, some of its mechanics had not held up. This remake addresses that honestly and directly. At its core, Dead Space is a third-person sci-fi survival horror game set almost entirely aboard the USG Ishimura, a colossal planet-cracking mining vessel gone silent. You play as Isaac Clarke, an engineer who boards the ship looking for his partner Nicole and instead finds the crew transformed into necromorphs. Combat is built around strategic dismemberment, not headshots. You cut off limbs to slow, stop, and kill enemies, and the pressure to manage ammo while something lurches toward you in the dark never lets up. The Plasma Cutter, Pulse Rifle, Ripper (which fires spinning saw blades), and the gravity-manipulating Force Gun all feel meaningfully different, and the Kinesis module now lets you impale enemies with pipes and debris pulled from the environment, adding an extra layer of improvised brutality to encounters. The zero-gravity sections have been reworked to allow free movement in any direction rather than locked jump points, which makes those sequences feel like an actual mechanic rather than a loading screen with physics. A new circuit breaker system forces you to choose between powering a door or keeping the lights on, and yes, exploring dark corridors in this game is exactly as unpleasant as it sounds. For newcomers, this is flatly one of the cleanest entry points into survival horror you can find. The Ishimura is a single, interconnected ship with no loading screen interruptions between its sections, and the map design rewards backtracking as new security clearance levels (earned naturally through story progress) open doors you had to leave behind earlier. Optional side quests add context to supporting characters without padding the runtime to the point of tedium. The game also ships with a thorough suite of accessibility options including adjustable difficulty, subtitle controls, color alternatives, and full controller support for both DualShock and DualSense. The honest criticisms are few but worth flagging. Some players who know the 2008 version deeply argue that much of what the remake adds is either optional side content that softens the original's leaner pacing, or changes to the visual identity that trade some of the original's raw atmosphere for technical fidelity. PC players have also reported traversal stutters that, based on community reports, have not been patched out fully. Neither issue breaks the experience, but if you are a purist coming from the classic version, you may find yourself occasionally missing the stripped-back tension of the original. For everyone else, and especially for anyone who has never played Dead Space before, this is the version to play. The sound design is exceptional, the lighting is used as a weapon against the player at every opportunity, and the New Game Plus mode opens up a more action-forward way to revisit the Ishimura once you have upgraded Isaac's arsenal. It sits at 87 on Metacritic and 90% positive on Steam across nearly 70,000 reviews, which for a survival horror remake is a signal worth taking seriously.
