About Dead by Daylight: The SAW (DLC) (Xbox One)
Dead by Daylight's SAW chapter is a paid DLC expansion for the asymmetric 4v1 horror game, adding a licensed slice of the Jigsaw franchise to the base roster. If you're not already running DbD, this pack does nothing on its own - it requires the base game and plugs directly into the live multiplayer ecosystem of generators, hooks, and frantic chases that the game is built around. The headline addition is Amanda Young, known in-game as The Pig, taking the Killer slot. She plays as a stealth-oriented ambush hunter who can crouch and charge a lunge attack, a movement style that feels meaningfully different from the standard M1 chasers in the base roster. Her power also places Reverse Bear Traps on downed Survivors - timed devices that force players to scramble for jigsaw boxes to remove them before a timer runs out. It adds a secondary pressure layer to the match that pure chase killers don't have, and it rewards Pig players who understand map pressure rather than just brute-force chasing. Detective David Tapp fills the Survivor role. He functions identically to every other Survivor in terms of core mechanics - the differentiation between Survivors is cosmetic and perk-based, not mechanical. His starting perks (Tenacity, Detective's Hunch, and Surge) are serviceable but not meta-defining, so experienced players farming perks for specific builds may find him a vehicle rather than a destination. The Gideon Meat Plant map is the chapter's third pillar, and it's one of the more structurally interesting arenas in the game's pool. The multi-level layout with basement access and tight corridors creates genuine tension for both sides, and it fits the industrial horror aesthetic of SAW without feeling like a reskin of existing maps. The honest caveat: this chapter launched in 2018, which means the meta has moved considerably since release. The Pig is considered a mid-tier Killer by the community - fun and flavourful, but not dominant at high matchmaking ranks. If you're a competitive-leaning Killer main chasing top-tier picks, that context matters. If you're a SAW fan who wants to live out the franchise in a multiplayer horror space, or a DbD player who enjoys diverse Killer playstyles over pure efficiency, the chapter delivers what it advertises. Bottom line: this is a solid licensed chapter with a mechanically interesting Killer and a good map. It's not a revolution for the game, but it holds up as a worthwhile addition for players who enjoy DbD's loop and want more variety in who they're playing as or running from. Alex, Scout Team
