Crown Wars: The Black Prince

Crown Wars drops you in a castle management loop that feeds into turn-based tactical battles. You're building forces, managing resources, and sending knights out to fight brigands and hostile lords across a procedural-feeling map. It's the bones of a solid tactics game: you've got unit types, positioning matters, and there's a progression system that gates which soldiers you can field. The problem is execution. The writing is thin, the map traversal feels padded, and after a dozen battles the tactical challenge starts repeating without much variance in how you approach engagements. It's not broken, but it's also not compelling enough to push past the early-game grind. If you've exhausted King's Bounty 2 or similar tactical hybrids and are desperate for more castle-building economy management baked into combat, this scratches that itch. Otherwise, it's a safe pass.
