GamerScout Verdict
Only for players who want arcade hunting without the sim complexity, and can forgive a decade of dated graphics.

About Cabela's African Adventures
I went in expecting a sim and got an action game instead. Cabela's African Adventures treats big-game hunting like a theme park ride: pick your weapon, point at the animal, squeeze the trigger. No ballistics, no wind simulation, no patience required. The presentation is dated even by 2013 standards - stiff animations, flat environments, loading screens between every zone. There's a shallow charm if you're not after realism. Rifle variety keeps things mildly interesting, and the sheer absurdity of how forgiving the mechanics are can be entertaining for an hour or two. But the game doesn't have the depth of actual hunting sims, the spectacle of action games, or the personality to stand on its own. It's a relic of Activision's Cabela's licensing deal, and it shows.
