Bounty Train - New West
Solid DLC for base-game fans who want more route-planning, facility management, and shotgun-armed crew builds, but its mixed reception makes it a conditional buy, not a blind one.
GamerScout Verdict
Worth it if you finished the base campaign and want more crew-building and route-planning, but don't expect the systems to deepen dramatically.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

About Bounty Train - New West
I went into New West expecting a straightforward content drop, and what I found was more layered than the Mixed Steam score suggests, though not without the same friction points that dog the base game. This is a DLC expansion for Bounty Train, Corbie Games' genre-blender that sits somewhere between a trading sim, a light strategy RPG, and a real-time-with-pause combat game set in the 19th-century American West. New West picks up the story of Walter Reed after the main campaign wraps, handing you control of a fresh facility and asking you to manage a building process from the ground up rather than just hopping back on the rails. The expansion adds over 30 quests and roughly 14 hours of play, which is a reasonable chunk for a DLC sitting at this price tier. More interesting to me as a systems player is the new locomotive, the additional carriage slot, and the expanded crew and weapon options. The shotgun is a meaningful addition to the combat layer, Bounty Train's fights are positional, turn-event-based affairs where each carriage becomes a defensive zone, and a close-range weapon class genuinely changes the calculus on crew composition. Do you slot a Gunslinger and a Sharpshooter for range, or anchor a Shotgunner to protect your cargo wagons from boarding-style raids? Those are real decisions, and New West gives you more variables to plug into them. The base game's city economies, where each stop has a distinct market tied to what it produces or needs, carry over here, and the new resources layer adds more arbitrage routes to map and exploit. The core tension in Bounty Train, and by extension here, is time pressure versus greed. The main campaign's rival shareholder ticking clock is replaced in New West by a facility construction loop, but the underlying problem remains: if you spend too many runs hauling high-margin cargo when the quest chain wants you moving specific resources, you'll fall behind. That's interesting on paper, but the difficulty tuning is soft enough that a player who figures out trade pricing early can largely ignore it. The game spans five difficulty modes, but even outside the lowest settings, paying off bandits rather than fighting them is often the efficient play rather than a compromise. Players who want their decisions to feel truly consequential may find the ceiling lower than the setup implies. New West is locked behind completion of the base campaign, which is the right call structurally but worth flagging if you're browsing as a first-time buyer. You cannot jump in here cold. The base game's tutorial covers train controls and combat passably well, and the UI is clear enough about key numbers, coal, passenger capacity, cargo weight, cash, that the genre gap between train sim and strategy RPG doesn't feel hostile to newcomers. If you've finished the main story and want more of the same loop with new build options and a fresh facility management angle, this delivers what it promises. If you bounced off the base game's light economic depth or found the combat unsatisfying, New West adds texture without fundamentally reworking either system.
