The first hour of Battle Brothers is a wall: your starting mercenaries miss, panic, and die to bandits, and Blazing Deserts does nothing to soften that because it is an expansion, not a standalone. You need the base game installed to see any of it. What it adds is a whole southern desert half of the map: new city-states, nomad and southern raider factions, fresh contract types and events tied to them, plus southern gear including early gunpowder weapons. The store listing carries the full item breakdown. Push through that brutal first hour and this is the expansion veterans want switched on before their next ironman run. Newcomers still learning the base campaign can wait.
