Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China
A 2.5D stealth-action spinoff where you play as Shao Jun, a Chinese assassin trained by Ezio, in 16th-century Ming China. Stripped-down mechanics and a short runtime make it a lean side entry for AC fans.
GamerScout Verdict
A compact stealth jaunt for AC diehards willing to accept a stripped-down experience in exchange for a 5-hour commitment.

About Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China
I went in expecting another bloated Assassin's Creed experience and found something refreshingly compact instead. Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China ditches the open-world formula entirely, pivoting to a 2.5D perspective with linear level design that channels classic stealth games more than the mainline series. You control Shao Jun as she works her way through Ming China, using shadow mechanics, assassination chains, and parkour moves on a fixed plane. It's all very deliberate and methodical - if you want to ghost a level, the tools are there, but alarms are punishing. The catch: this isn't a deep experience. The campaign runs maybe 4-5 hours, combat encounters feel rigid compared to proper stealth alternatives, and the fixed camera angle occasionally makes navigation clunky. But if you're a diehard AC lore nerd or just want a bite-sized stealth game that respects your time, it delivers exactly what it promises. It's not trying to be Dishonored or Splinter Cell, and that honesty is refreshing.
