AOK Adventures Of Kok

I went in expecting nothing from AOK Adventures of Kok and came out pleasantly surprised by its unassuming charm. This is a small indie adventure from 2017 that doesn't try to be anything grander than it is: a casual exploration game with a goofy protagonist and straightforward puzzle-solving. The world is tiny, the production values are rough around the edges, but there's an earnest quality to it that older adventure fans might appreciate. It's the kind of game you'd stumble on in a bargain bin and play for an afternoon. The problem is there's just not much meat on these bones. I cleared it in a couple of hours, and while the weirdness kept me engaged, the puzzles are simple and the story doesn't amount to much. If you're looking for substance or challenge, this isn't it. But if you're a completionist who loves hunting down obscure indie titles or you want something totally inoffensive to wind down with, AOK won't waste your time. Just don't expect to remember it.
