Animals vs Animals
A 2D side-scrolling runner with a puppy protagonist and elemental skills that sounds more interesting than it plays - approach with extremely low expectations and even lower stakes.

About Animals vs Animals
I went looking for a decision tree. What I found instead was a side-scrolling runner that barely qualifies as a PC game by any stretch of the definition I use professionally. Animals vs Animals puts you in control of a puppy racer competing against other animals across 2D platform tracks, using elemental skills - water and fire abilities - to knock opponents back and claim first place. On paper that sounds like a serviceable budget arcade title. In practice, the evidence points somewhere less flattering. The core loop is about as deep as a puddle. You run, you jump over gaps and platform hazards, you collect speed bonuses, and you deploy your skills to slow down or stop rivals. There is nothing wrong with that formula at the right price and the right platform - but this is a Unity asset store template ported to Steam with minimal modification, and seasoned players will recognize the bones of a mobile tutorial project almost immediately. The depth of decision-making is essentially zero. There are no build choices, no difficulty scaling systems, no meaningful AI opponent behavior to read and counter. The skill usage is more button-press-when-available than anything requiring timing or strategy. The Steam review pool is both tiny and contested. Third-party aggregators flag the positive score as potentially inflated by manipulated accounts, and Valve has assigned the game Profile Features Limited status, meaning it does not contribute to your Steam game count or profile showcases. The all-time concurrent player peak sits at two people. None of that is a sign of a game with a healthy community or active post-launch support. There are no updates to speak of, no mod ecosystem, and no multiplayer mode to add longevity. Who is this actually for? Strictly speaking, very young children who want colorful animals moving across a screen might get a short-lived kick out of it, and parents shopping for zero-friction screen time could glance at it. For anyone above that bar - anyone expecting the strategy tag in the genre list to mean something, anyone hoping the sports or simulation labels hint at underlying systems - this delivers nothing. The genre breadcrumbs on the store page are pure keyword stuffing. There is no simulation. There is no meaningful strategy. There is a runner with a power-up button. My honest read: this is the kind of title that exists to pad out bundle counts and key giveaway pools. If you landed here from a bundle and already own it, spend ten minutes, satisfy your curiosity, and move on. Spending real money on it as a standalone purchase is hard to justify for any PC gamer who has ever touched a proper platformer. Diego, Scout Team
