I went in expecting little from a 2016 indie action title, and Xenus 2 mostly confirms that caution. The pirate-themed setting and promise of island exploration sound appealing, but the game suffers from stiff controls, dated visuals, and a janky vibe that feels like a proof-of-concept stretched into a full release. Combat is functional but clunky; exploration is there but unrewarding. That said, if you're the type who hunts for hidden gems in bargain bins and has tolerance for rough production values, there's a kernel of island adventure here. The mystery-and-pirate premise could scratch an itch if you go in with zero expectations and just want something different. Just don't expect polish or memorable quest design.
