X Wars Deluxe
A stripped-down turn-based tactics game with cross-platform multiplayer, but minimal depth and tutorial friction limit its appeal.
GamerScout Verdict
Free-to-play tactics game worth a quick session if cross-platform multiplayer interests you, but lacks the depth or polish for sustained play.

About X Wars Deluxe
I went in expecting a Paradox-style strategy framework, but X Wars Deluxe is something simpler: a turn-based army battler where you push units around a grid against four AI opponents or other players. The core loop works, move, attack, repeat, and cross-platform online play means you're not fighting a ghost town. Local multiplayer and controller support are solid utility features for couch sessions. The problem is breadth. There's no build variance I can detect, unit types feel interchangeable, and the AI doesn't scale difficulty gracefully. The tutorial barely explains what you're doing, which kills momentum for newcomers. At this price point (free-to-play), it's worth a 20-minute trial if you're bored, but don't expect the strategic depth the "masterpiece" tagline promises. Better options exist in the indie tactics space.
