Wonder Boy Returns Remix is a 2019 mashup of the original Wonder Boy and its sequel Wonder Boy Returns, combining sprites, levels, and mechanics from both games into a single campaign. The result is nostalgic comfort food for players who grew up with these early 80s arcade platformers, with tight controls and straightforward level design that holds up. The remix gimmick mostly works during the early hours. That said, the novelty wears thin fast. The game is short, and the blend of two distinct games creates tonal whiplash rather than coherent design. If you're chasing pure retro platformer thrills, the originals (or Sega's official ports) are often the better call. This is for die-hard Wonder Boy completionists only.
