About Wild Hearts Karakuri Edition
The first hour hands you a crafting system that only makes sense under pressure, and that is a real barrier. Wild Hearts asks you to hold a build button and drop crates, springs and glider pads mid-fight, and until that becomes muscle memory you will mostly eat charges from things the size of a barn. Push through the first two or three hunts. The moment you plant a wall in front of a charging boar and watch it faceplant, the whole design clicks. What it does exceptionally well is turn monster hunting into improvised architecture. The Kemono are gorgeous, the weapon roster is genuinely distinct (the karakuri katana's chain form is a highlight), and hunting alongside other players holds up. What it does not do is match that ambition on the technical side: it has a rough history on PC, the story is thin, and the beast lineup runs shorter than the genre leaders. Fun on its own terms anyway.
