Ultimate Arena

I approached Ultimate Arena expecting a tycoon-like character builder with strategic depth, but what I found was more experimental than finished. You create fighters with stat distributions, pit them against each other, and watch the simulation play out. The appeal is pure sandbox: tinker with builds, run tournaments, use the level editor to customize arenas. There's potential in the framework, but execution feels hollow. No narrative scaffolding, tutorial is non-existent, and the AI doesn't scale gracefully. The Workshop support and level editor hint at what this could've been, but the core simulation lacks the mechanical clarity or visual feedback that makes arena sims click. If you're the type who enjoys spreadsheet tinkering and watching homebrew rulesets collide, you might squeeze a few hours out of it. Everyone else should look elsewhere.
