I have organised enough Saturday-night racing nights to know when a game is going to clear the room and when it is going to pull people back for one more lap. Ride on the Edge 3 is firmly in the second camp, but only for a specific kind of player, so let me be straight with you before you click anything. The Racing Fan Edition bundles the base game with a Career Starter Pack (380 performance points to spend on bike upgrades right away) and the 2023 TT content update, which adds the updated official riders, bikes, and teams from that year's event. What you are getting is a licensed, official recreation of the Isle of Man Tourist Trophy, built around 32 distinct tracks spread across more than 200 kilometres of road. You pick from 38 official riders split across two classes: Supersport and Superbike. The biggest structural addition over the previous entries is an open-world layer that lets you ride freely around the Isle of Man roads to discover Quick Race, Career Mode, online multiplayer, and weekly or monthly challenge events. Career works the way motorsport games should, moving you through practice sessions, time trials, head-to-heads, and race days while letting you spend earned points on bike development across multiple upgrade tiers. There is zero cosmetic customisation for your rider or bike, which feels like a gap when rivals let you personalise everything, but the mechanical depth partially compensates. The physics are where this game lives or dies, and they mostly live. The Snaefell Mountain Course has 264 corners packed into just over 60 kilometres, and the handling model respects every one of them. Clip a kerb at speed and you are in someone's front garden. Brake a fraction too late into a tight section and you learn an expensive lesson. Even with assists enabled and AI difficulty dialled back, the competition is stiff from the first session. None of that difficulty felt artificial or cheap in extended play, though, and when the bike finally starts doing what you tell it, the sense of speed at Superbike power levels is genuinely jaw-dropping. Helmet cam is the way to go if your stomach can take it. The audio backs it up well too, with engine notes that sound like the real event rather than approximations of it. Some honest caveats. Scenery is inconsistent: the course itself looks stunning in places and muddy and pop-in-heavy in others. The career mode, while improved, runs shorter than you might expect for a sim with this much setup depth. Framerate is mostly stable on PC but has rough patches in busier sections. The multiplayer is online only (no split-screen, which is the bad news for couch co-op nights), with custom online events and seasonal races to keep things moving post-career. If four people on one sofa is your situation, this is not your game. If you and a regular online crew want a serious motorcycle sim with a uniquely dangerous real-world pedigree, the online modes hold up well enough to justify the subscription to the experience. For the casual or newcomer crowd, the learning curve is steep even with all the assists. The game does not really want to be played casually, and that is fine as long as you walk in knowing it. Dedicated motorbike sim fans and anyone who follows the real TT event will find a lot to respect here. Everyone else should try a gentler on-ramp before committing.
