About Tsuki ni Yorisou Otome no Sahou 2
I've spent enough time in Navel's back catalogue to know they don't write throwaway romance fluff. The Tsukiyori series earned its reputation by wrapping a crossdressing comedy premise in genuinely crafted storytelling, the kind that uses foreshadowing and irony in ways that most visual novels skip entirely. This third chapter follows Saika, a young man who returns to Japan with dreams of enrolling in the prestigious Filia Academy's fashion design program, only to learn the male division is being shuttered. His workaround, predictably, involves a dress. What follows is part romantic comedy, part character study, built around the world of high-end clothing design and the social performances required to survive it. The writing is the reason to be here. Navel structures their routes with care, and the humour in the crossdressing setup never feels like the whole joke. There is genuine warmth in how Saika navigates his situation, and the supporting cast earns its screen time rather than simply filling archetype slots. The international Chinese release published by HIKARI FIELD comes with everything: the main story, the two bonus chapters originally locked behind the Limited Edition physical release (the Luna after-after epilogue and the sibling-theory side story), and full voiced dialogue for the entire cast. That is a meaningful content package, and it removes the friction that plagued earlier Western releases of Navel titles where voice content was stripped or gated. The caveats are real, though. This is a text-forward visual novel with minimal interactivity. Choices exist and multiple endings are present, but players chasing mechanical depth or branching agency on the level of something like Fate or Umineko will find the structure fairly linear outside of the route splits. The game is also published in Chinese only on this international release, so non-Chinese speakers are locked out for now. English support has not been announced. That is a hard filter, and it deserves to be said plainly rather than buried. For the audience it fits, the package is hard to argue with. The series has a loyal fanbase that has followed these characters across entries, and new players willing to start here will find enough exposition to orient themselves, though playing the first game first remains the better path. Route quality is uneven in the way Navel routes often are, with certain character arcs landing considerably harder than others, but the peaks are worth the slog through the quieter sections. The full voice cast across all content, including the bonus stories, is a genuine upgrade over how older entries shipped. If you read Chinese, have any affection for Navel's prior work, or simply want a polished romantic visual novel with a comedic premise that takes its own characters seriously, this delivers on what the series promised. Anyone outside the Chinese-reading audience should wishlist and wait for a potential English release.
