Train World
A centuries-spanning railway sim that lets you build from steam engines to modern freight networks, but shallow economic systems and weak tutorials hold it back from rail-tycoon greatness.
GamerScout Verdict
Decent historical railway building, but lacks the economic teeth to satisfy sim enthusiasts or the polish to hook casuals.
Compare Prices(3 stores)
Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About Train World
I went in expecting a Capitalism-style railway management game with real operational depth. Train World gives you the historical arc you want, starting with early steam locomotives and advancing through eras toward contemporary rail infrastructure, but the economic simulation feels lightweight. You're placing tracks, scheduling trains, and managing basic finances, yet there's little penalty for poor planning and minimal emergent gameplay from competing against rivals or navigating regulatory constraints. The UI doesn't guide newcomers well, and after the initial novelty of expanding your network wears off, the loop becomes repetitive. If you're after a relaxing build-and-optimize experience without the spreadsheet complexity of Transport Tycoon or Offworld Trading Company, this fits. But if you want consequential decisions where a single bad route investment cascades into financial ruin, look elsewhere. The foundation is solid; the execution just doesn't justify a long run.
