About The Wake
The Wake strips combat down to its core: you're in a VR space, enemies come at you, and you grab whatever's lying around to hit them with. Hand-to-hand feel matters here, and the weapon variety is genuinely broad - bats, axes, bladed weapons, explosives, guns, and that aforementioned chainsaw all behave differently enough to make experimentation worthwhile. It's pure sandbox violence without narrative cruft. What works is the tactile feedback and the freedom to approach each encounter however you want. What's less clear is whether there's enough depth to keep you engaged beyond the first few runs. Low-profile indie VR titles like this live or die on whether the core loop scratches the itch it's going for, and mileage will vary wildly depending on your tolerance for wave-based combat with minimal progression systems.
