The best thing here is the raw pre-production work: character studies, island environment paintings, and item and structure sketches from the making of The Survivalists, presented as a digital artbook you page through. It attaches to that game, so you need The Survivalists in your library for this to do anything at all. There is no gameplay in it, no new islands, no monkey companions to recruit, no extra crafting recipes. It is a gallery, and the appeal is entirely in seeing how a chunky, cheerful pixel-art world gets designed before the pixels ever exist. The store listing has the full page count and contents breakdown, which is worth checking before you commit, since artbooks vary wildly in how much unused material they actually include. If you loved the look of the game and want the sketch layer underneath it, this is a quiet twenty minutes well spent.
