GamerScout Verdict
For stealth fans who miss pre-2010 design philosophy and don't mind rough edges in exchange for destructible level design and freedom.

About The Saboteur
I went in expecting a straightforward WW2 shooter, but The Saboteur is really a stealth-focused action game about covert ops behind enemy lines. You play as an Irish race driver turned resistance fighter, sneaking through camps, disabling targets, and triggering chain reactions of sabotage. The level design rewards patience and reconnaissance over run-and-gun tactics, though you're not locked into one approach if alarms sound. The game's biggest strength is how it handles verticality and environmental destruction. Climbing scaffolding, using rooftops as cover routes, and rigging fuel depots to explode makes each mission feel less like a linear corridor and more like a puzzle you're solving with explosives. That said, mission objectives can feel repetitive after a few hours, and the AI isn't particularly sharp once you're spotted. If you want a scrappy, pre-2010 stealth game with real destructible levels and a pulp-fiction vibe, this scratches that itch. It's rough around the edges and nobody talks about it anymore, but that's partly because it was way ahead of its time.
