About The Pegasus Expedition - Grand Admiral Edition
I appreciate what Kalla Gameworks was aiming for here: a sci-fi 4X with actual story stakes, where your expedition choices ripple through galactic politics and resource scarcity. The mechanics exist, fleet management, faction diplomacy, tech trees, colony building. But the onboarding is a brick wall. The tutorial glosses over core systems faster than a Paradox launcher patch notes, and you'll spend your first 3 hours rewinding saves because you didn't understand supply lines or influence costs. If you survive that initiation, there's a competent strategy game underneath with personality. The narrative framing around humanity's survival gives weight to decisions that might otherwise feel like spreadsheet shuffling. Late-game complexity ramps up genuinely. But for a 2023 indie title competing with moddable juggernauts like Stellaris, it lacks the community depth and post-launch support to justify a blind purchase unless you actively enjoy tutorials that make you earn comprehension.
