The Mildew Children

The Mildew Children wears its strangeness like a badge. You play Kyrphel, a witch bound by duty to lead her sisters through a macabre ritual meant to save their isolated, pagan-steeped village. It's part point-and-click adventure, part visual novel, built around exploration and dialogue rather than combat. The art is moody and deliberately unsettling, and the writing commits fully to the dark fairy-tale tone without winking at the camera. Expect a short experience (a couple of hours at most) with minimal hand-holding and a focus on atmosphere over puzzle complexity. It's the kind of game that trusts you to sit with weirdness and doesn't explain every narrative beat. If you're drawn to indie games that prioritize mood and story over mechanical depth, and you can stomach grim subject matter, this is worth a shot. Everyone else will probably want to know what it is before diving in.
