I went in expecting a straightforward visual novel and found something weirder, Adam's Diary uses visual novel dialogue and story beats as the core, but wraps them around puzzle sequences and turn-based strategy encounters that actually matter to plot progression. It's a niche mix: you're reading through Adam's perspective as things in the Midnight Town get increasingly strange, then solving environmental puzzles or managing resources in small combat-like scenarios to advance. The horror elements stay atmospheric rather than jump-scare heavy, which works better for a game this narrative-focused. The indie execution shows, don't expect AAA production values or a massive runtime. But if you're after something that doesn't fit neatly into one box and doesn't mind lower-budget presentation, there's a solid small story here.
