The God's Chain
A 2016 PvP action game with an ambitious sci-fi premise that struggles to deliver on its promise of competitive multiplayer combat.
GamerScout Verdict
A curiosity for completionists, but the dead playerbase and rough execution make it hard to recommend even as a historical oddity.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.
Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.
We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.

About The God's Chain
I went in expecting The God's Chain to lean hard into its premise: humans fighting an existential threat across online arenas. Instead, what you get is a bare-bones multiplayer action game that feels unfinished even by 2016 standards. The core loop exists - you fight other players in PvP matches with some co-op options - but the execution is rough. Matchmaking is thin, the servers feel ghostly, and the gameplay mechanics don't have enough weight to carry the experience on their own. If you're hunting for a quirky multiplayer oddity or willing to tolerate dead servers for the novelty, The God's Chain won't hurt you. But the 37% Steam approval rating reflects a real problem: this game shipped with ambition but without the polish or player base to back it up. The cross-platform features and trading cards are nice touches, but they can't mask the fundamental emptiness of finding a match in 2024.
