Compare The Confines Of The Crown prices across trusted key stores and find the best deal. Developed by Hanako Games. Published by Hanako Games. Released on 4/3/2015. Available on PC. Genres: Adventure, Indie.

A two-hour court drama where the fights are all conversational, and the wrong sympathetic answer gets your prince killed.

The first hour asks you to do something visual novels rarely demand: pay attention to people who are lying politely. There is no combat, no map, barely any spectacle. Just a young woman assigned to keep a prince alive and out of his own worst instincts, and a court of nobles whose requests all sound reasonable in isolation. If you click through dialogue looking for the next choice prompt, you will fail badly and not understand why. Push through that friction and the design clicks into place, because the branching here punishes the reflex to be agreeable. It is short by design, and I think it earns the brevity. Hanako Games has been making these compact, choice-heavy character studies for years, and the restraint shows: no padding, no filler routes, endings that land because the game stopped where it should. The writing carries everything, so if text-heavy is a dealbreaker, walk away. But a couple of replays fit in an evening, and seeing how differently the court reads you the second time is the whole point. Kai, Scout Team

GamerScout Verdict

Worth an evening if you enjoy reading subtext in a room of liars; skip it if you skim dialogue.

Every store in this table quotes us in euros, so the EUR figure is the price the seller actually set, not our arithmetic — which is why EUR is also the currency we rank in. We only list an offer here when the store gives us its price in euros, so nothing in this table is a number we invented.

Pick USD, PLN, GBP, CAD or AUD in the header and we convert from EUR at the European Central Bank reference rate — converted amounts are prefixed with ~. Your bank or the store may apply a different rate at checkout. We never hide offers based on where you are: everyone sees this whole table.

We may earn a commission when you buy games through links on this page — at no extra cost to you. It never affects our rankings or verdicts.
