About Sweet fantasy
I went into Sweet Fantasy expecting a throwaway curiosity and came out with genuine affection for its central character. You play as Pumpkin, a young dryad whose one-sided love for her mistress Amethyst drives her to brew a charm-magic scheme across a small cast of encounters and decisions. The premise is slight, the runtime honest - most players will see every ending in under ninety minutes - and the whole thing runs on Ren'Py-style dialogue screens with illustrated sprite work from Salamandra88 whose digital art style is genuinely warm. The character expressions carry more personality than the script sometimes earns. As a kinetic visual novel, the interactivity is light. You make choices that branch toward four distinct endings, but players who have already gone through one route will notice the narrative threads converge quickly. The skip function is almost essential on repeat runs, and that says something honest about how much the story varies. Where the game finds its footing is in atmosphere rather than mechanics: the music is unobtrusive and soft in the way that good visual novel scoring should be, and the illustrated backgrounds keep a consistent pastel-fantasy mood throughout. The art is the main event, full stop. The English translation is functional but shows its seams in spots - the original language is Russian, and a few typographical rough edges survived the localization pass. For players who read slowly and let the scenes settle, that roughness fades. For anyone who prefers polished prose, it may grate. There is also an uncensored patch available outside the base Steam release, which players should factor into their expectations around content. The Steam version contains romance and partial nudity by default; the fuller content requires seeking out a separate curator link, which is an awkward distribution model but has become standard for this sub-genre. Sweet Fantasy sits in a crowded corner of Steam where dozens of micro-priced yuri visual novels compete for the same audience. What separates it slightly is the hand-drawn consistency: Salamandra88 draws in a style that reads as personal rather than assembled from asset packs, and that handcraft is genuinely visible even across a short runtime. The Salamandra88 and 7DOTS partnership went on to produce more polished follow-up titles, and this one wears its first-entry roughness openly. Treat it as an introduction to a developer voice rather than a complete statement, and it rewards that generosity. Approach it expecting depth and you will feel the thinness. Approach it as a quiet afternoon with illustrated fantasy romance and a light charm-magic plot, and the ninety minutes land just right. Kai, Scout Team
