Superscout
If a C-drama crossed with a supernatural talent-scouting premise sounds ridiculous to you, you are correct - and that is half the appeal. About six hours of FMV choices await, and they land harder than you'd expect.

About Superscout
My spreadsheet instincts do not usually fire for FMV dating sims, but Superscout pulled me in by dressing a fairly intricate value system in live-action soap-opera clothing. You play as a nameless protagonist who struck a Faustian deal with an entertainment god named Xiubi, trading all future wealth for a supernatural scouting ability. The hook works because it actually has mechanical teeth: every yuan you earn through that ability costs you a hundredfold loss, keeping the story grounded in romantic sacrifice rather than power fantasy. The premise is absurd in the best way Chinese web-drama tradition can produce, and Mountain and Sea Studio lean into it fully. The decision layer is more layered than you might guess from screenshots. Your choices feed two separate values: Intimacy, which is the visible surface number you build through dialogue picks and the "Public Distribute Affection" or "Hand Out Clues" actions, and Yuan, a hidden core value that actually steers which story branch you land on. It is a two-axis system that will feel immediately familiar to anyone who has managed competing meters in something like Crusader Kings - visible approval versus hidden relationship weight pulling outcomes in different directions. The game is honest enough that the developer admits, in the store text, that this value influence system is not yet where they want it, and that their follow-up project is meant to refine it further. That transparency is refreshing, if slightly unsatisfying when you feel a branch snap shut earlier than expected. Quick Time Events gate the more intimate fantasy sequences, and you can opt out without penalty if they are not your thing, which is a sensible design concession. The roster of women to scout - a first-love pop star, an effortlessly charming game streamer who happens to be a philosophy professor's daughter, a former idol group member with a code-of-chivalry streak, a physics researcher who moonlights in historical Hanfu, and a handful more - is diverse enough that different playthroughs genuinely surface different story textures. Community reception has been broadly positive among Chinese-speaking players, who make up the large majority of the reviewer base. English players should budget extra patience: the localization is functional but can read unnaturally in places, which pulls you out of scenes that would otherwise land with more weight. The production itself - framing, lighting, performance quality from the cast - is well above what you get from comparable budget FMV titles in the West. The main story runs roughly six hours depending on how many branches you chase, which makes it short by the standards of any genre I usually cover. There is no mod ecosystem, no AI opponent to outwit, no post-launch content cadence to track. What it does offer is multiple endings and a clear replayability loop around the Yuan value system - run it again, make different choices early, and the late-game heart scout chapter, where the protagonist's ability flips to uncovering the girls' hidden secrets, pays off differently. That chapter is the structural climax the rest of the game is building toward, and it earns its reveal if you let the story breathe. Anyone expecting deep systems will leave disappointed. Anyone who wants a well-shot, emotionally earnest FMV romance with a bit of supernatural flavour and a two-axis choice engine underneath will find it delivers. Diego, Scout Team
