About Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2
I spent my childhood thinking platformers had to be grounded in physics. Galaxy blew that open. You're running sideways on tiny planets, jumping between spheres mid-air, and the camera follows you like it's choreographed the whole thing. Galaxy 2 doubles down with co-op (one player controls Mario, the other throws projectiles) and more creative level design. Both games nail the core feel: weighty jumps, instant feedback, and worlds that are fun to explore because they're geometrically clever, not because they're chasing AAA open-world box-ticking. These aren't perfect. Some motion control sections feel dated, and the camera occasionally betrays you on narrow ledges. But if you care about responsive platforming and Nintendo's design philosophy of "one idea per level, polished to shine," Galaxy is the thesis statement. You'll replay stages for no reason other than they feel good to move through.
