Stronghold is old. Older than many people who will actually play this game. It's also a classic, remembered fondly by thousands of players all over the world. To make it more palatable to modern audiences, the developers upgraded the games graphics as much as possible, though you should NOT expect miracles. Still, you should at least try the game out for gameplay alone.
