GamerScout Verdict
A scrappy creature-horror action game worth a weekend if you like short, punchy horror over polished production.

About Stray Souls
I went in expecting a rough gem, and Stray Souls is... mostly rough. It's a third-person action game that leans hard into creature-heavy horror setpieces, with melee combat that feels weightier than most indie releases in this space. The art direction has real personality, and there are moments where the atmosphere clicks. But the game's biggest enemy is itself: combat becomes repetitive fast, level design feels padded, and the frame-pacing issues make extended play sessions a grind. Stray Souls works best in short bursts if you're specifically hunting for indie horror action that isn't trying to ape Dark Souls. It knows what it wants to be, and respects your time more than it respects your patience. Worth a shot if creature-bashing and eerie environments are your comfort zone, but don't expect it to stick around after the credits.
